Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that semaglutides like Ozempic and Wegovy have taken the country by storm this past year. These "anti-obesity" medications are self injections that increase insulin levels in the body, which in turn decreases blood sugar levels and slows down digestion. While the main purpose for the drugs is treatment for Diabetes, it's become main stream to be on the injections for quick, effective weight loss.
However... - you knew the "however" was coming, right?
Remember the last time you were on a strict diet - you lost weight, right? But what happened when you stopped the diet? You gained everything, or a lot back.
With Ozempic and drugs like it, what happens when you stop? Will the weight stay off?
Likely, no.
My opinion - these drugs are a great tool or jumping off point to help you lose weight. But unless you start working on your nutrition or working out in the gym, once the injections stop, so will the results.
These drugs cause weight loss - not specifically fat loss. So when the pounds are coming off, you're also losing valuable muscle in addition to the stubborn fat.
If you are on any injectable, weight-loss drug, or any other restrictive diet - you must also focus on shifting your habits to match your goals. The shot is magical, but not magic ๐
I have always preached longevity, consistency, and thinking about long-term success. Again, these medications are great for those who really need it and great for those who need a starting off point.
